Korean with Ji Su – SWEET AND SAVORY RICE CAKE SKEWERS

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS: tsp = teaspoon tbsp = tablespoon

16 Rice cakes (cylinder shaped)

4 Skewers

Sauces :

    Number 1 :

1 tbsp Gochujang

1 tbsp Soy sauce

1 tbsp Red chili powder

2 tbsp Sugar

2 tbsp Water

4 tbsp Mulyut (sugar syrup at Greenpeas)

1 tbsp Minced garlic

2 tbsp Ketchup

1 tbsp Parmesan

Number 2 :

2 tbsp Sesame seeds

1.5 tbsp Sugar

1.5t bsp Vinegar

1 tbsp Soy sauce

1 tbsp Mayonnaise

1 tsp Sesame oil

DIRECTIONS:

 

 

  • Place rice cakes on an oven tray. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 15 minutes. Take them out when you see little bumps on the rice cake, they should be taken out before they turn brown
  • While the rice cakes are cooling down, prepare the sauces

  • Sauce #1: Mix all ingredients in a bowl, and boil down on a frying pan over medium heat until it looks like a glossy sauce
  • Sauce #2: Put all ingredients in a blender

 

 

  • Put 4 rice cakes on a skewer
  • Dip the skewer in sauce #1, then grind parmesan on top
  • Finally, put dots of sauce #2 to give it extra flavour
